SUGAR COOKIE RECIPE
Sugar Cookie Recipe - great for all year round treat.
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon milk
- Powdered sugar, for rolling out dough
Instructions
- Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt and then set aside.
- Place the butter and sugar in a large bowl and beat until light in colour. Add the egg and milk and beat to combine.
- On a low speed, gradually add the flour, and beat until the mixture pulls away from the side of the bowl.
- Divide the dough in half, wrap it in waxed paper, and refrigerate until firm (over an hour).
- Preheat the oven to 190 degrees C.
- Sprinkle powdered sugar on the kitchen surface. Remove 1 wrapped pack of dough from the refrigerator at a time, sprinkle some powdered sugar on the rolling pin and roll out the dough to 0.5cm thick.
- Cut into the desired shape, place at least 3cm apart on a greased baking sheet/ parchment/silicone baking mat, and bake for 7 to 9 minutes or until cookies are just beginning to turn brown around the edges.
